RSE v30 FULL RELEASE




What happened to v29? Long story...


RSE v30 Changelog:

rse bots v30 changes:

    highlights:

    -improved performance (various code clean up/optimization and added/increased time delays for certain processes)

    balance changes:

    -more bots will attack objectives (75%) than defend objectives (50%) in demolition (to make matches more interesting)
    -more bots will defend objectives (75%) than attack objectives (50%) in sabotage (to make matches more interesting)

    -changed the probability of skill groups spawning for "Mixed" difficulty:
        -Recruit: from 22% to 25%
        -Regular: from 33% to 25%
        -Hardened: from 33% to 25%
        -Veteran: from 11% to 25%

    -bot talkrate is now governed by a new set of variables (bots talk less often)

    bug fixes:

    -improved consistency of bots calling in chopper gunners and ac130s after earning them

    miscellaneous changes:

    -added 4 more bot dialogue options
    -bots that use the marathan perk will no longer run forever
    -changed the distance bots have to be to a bombsite to plant or defuse from 80 to 100
    -bots that have an airdrop killstreak picked will now always have the trait for taking carepackages
    -the menu option "Bots Talk" is now disabled by default on the PS3 version

    -bots will now have death animations when they die while moving

    balance changes:

    -higher skilled bots will use more assault rifles and mounted grenade launchers
    -lower skilled bots will use more automatic weapons
    -reduced time to stop shooting to 0.1 seconds and made it universal for all bots
    -bots will wait an extra 0.3 seconds after firing a stinger
    -bots will wait an extra 0.25 seconds after placing equipment

    -changed the amount of time for bots to take carepackages (to be in line with real players):
        -from 1.5 to 1 second for bots taking their own carepackage
        -from 3.5 to 4 seconds for bots stealing a carepackage

    -bots will now spend more time taking out and putting away the laptop for a predator missile (from 0.5 to 1 second)
    -tweaked the amount of time bots will equip launchers for
    -reduced the talkrate of bots by 20%
    -removed the short randomized delay (between 0 and 0.1 seconds) for bots to start shooting

    bug fixes:

    -fixed a bug that caused bots to switch to targets that they cannot see
    -fixed a bug that caused bots to shoot their gun at the beginning of a round
    -fixed a bug that caused bots to not use their mounted launcher
    -fixed a bug that caused bots to rage quit at the start of a new round in Search and Destroy

    miscellaneous changes:

    -added 2 more bot dialogue options
    -bots will no longer talk when they rage quit if the menu option "Bots Talk" is turned off
    -decreased the distance that bots travel when they perform a melee attack
    -bots will no longer try to perform a melee kamikaze when they are camping or waiting
    -bots will not jitter as much when they stop to shoot
    -revamped camping and waiting logic
    -bots that camp in Search and Destroy will start moving when there is less than a minute left
    -bots will now move at a normal pace when they are travelling through complex geometry
    -removed the menu option "Bots Ignore Host" because it was a stupid option to have
    -limited the match size for deathmatch to 8 players on Rust, 12 players on other maps (Derail and Fuel are still 18)
    -the PS3 version is now limited to filling the match to 10 players (to maintain performance)

    1. awww your welcome.

      i am looking into creating a bot menu for BO2 so that you can easily spawn bots in matchmaking. though i don't see any reason to have a menu for choosing maps since this can be easily done through the vanilla menus in the lobby for custom games. regarding LAN, Redacted did release a client with LAN support but for some idiotic reason they decided to be jerks again and require a steam check. i would need to dive into the code and bypass the steam check. i currently don't have BO2 installed but if i do install it again i will try to unlock true offline for the LAN release.

    2. Ok, for BO2 I say that concerning the Ranked match to select a map, instead of hazard. I think, it could be great to create a custom ranked match ( to win xp and more instead of the training);

    1. have you tried adding seta cg_fov "80" to your config_mp.cfg? if that doesn't work you'll have to unpack the .iwd and add the code into a GSC file. you should be able to add it to includes.gsc where the main bot dvars are initiated.

    1. system requirements are stated in the documentation. these bots don't require much resources, especially since the optimization done for the PS3 in this latest release. basically any computer build in the last decade will have no trouble running a full 18 player match.

  5. It takes someone with a certain level of dedication to update a forgotten AI Offline Bot Mod for a game noone cares about anymore in 2016.

    1. your welcome! actually MW2 is still one of the more popular CoD games on PC. it has about as many active users as MW3 and not far behind BO2. MW2 has more people playing than Ghosts (2013) or Advanced Warfare (2014).

    1. ...thats called camping

      it adds more variety to gameplay as some bots will stay in one area for up to 2 minutes. this also helps some bots rack up high killstreaks.

      of course if something important happens like a bomb is planted or there is only a minute left on the clock they will stop camping.

      also its trait specific. campers are born to camp (on average 1 out of 8 bots). while the rest will never camp. some matches will not have any campers while other matches might have quite a few campers.

  9. There are problems. I played 5 games on Afghan map and 3 games on Terminal map. The bugs are:
    - the camping make a strange behavior. On Afghan, bots just run, stop, "freeze" with animation and wait to die at the East of the map and West mountain.
    It's the same with high levels bots. In Terminal, it's the staircase who bots stop to run and wait to die. This, kill the dynamic :(
    - problem of collisions between bots and environments, they hit moutain, walk on box, hit obstacles.
    - weapons texture stay in the air and float when the bots run. The texture floats and shakes in vacuum.
    - bots ignore ennemies (bots or human players) when they run and have close ahead contact with a lot of time.

    I played with v27 and I know just the freeze problem sometimes, but less than v30. Others problems are new. I think the "camping" behavior make the problem.

    I prefer to signal bugs if you want to correct that :) I wish I help you ;)

    PS: Do you plan bots for MW3? Battlefield 3 or 4?

    1. 1. so you are saying the bots are showing a moving animation (walk or run) when they aren't moving at all? i have played hundreds of matches for the past few releases and did not encounter anything like this. bots do sometimes camp (determined by a trait) and they will stop moving but they are still very much aware of their environment so if they notice an enemy they will engage the enemy. and they will stop camping when a major event in the match happens such as a bomb plant or if time is running out. this is not a bug though. but it is currently a simplistic implementation since sometimes they decide to camp in asinine places (such as out in the open). but it does add variety to the gameplay and i assure you without it bots would be more predictable and less interesting.

      2. can you be more specific regarding the problem with collisions? i understand there are occasional issues since bots don't navigate the environment perfectly. the only thing i changed was removing a process called "pushoutofplayers" that acted to prevent collisions with other players but it was very resource intensive and wasn't worth having. i doubt many people will even notice it is gone. removing this process would not cause any further problems regarding collisions with the environment so aside from a few rare situations i'm not sure what you are talking about.

      3. yes this is because i overlay fake animations onto the true bot model and i am currently unable to make the gun model invisible when i overlay animations. this must be done because i don't have full control over the game engine (since there are no proper modding tools for MW2) so there are many things in this mod that are just clever tricks to simulate the intended result.

      4. bots aren't as responsive in some situations but the delay shouldn't be any longer than what would be experienced in a match against real players. there is a performance saving measure implemented that causes their responsiveness to decrease when there are more players in the match, though it is a small incremental change and hardly noticeable.

      and lastly yes i plan on making bots for all of those games if given the opportunity. unfortunately there is currently no way to develop bots for those games. if anything changes i will definitely post it on this blog.

      Concerning Collision, I have seen some problem just on Afghan map with a big jump through upstair, run on box or specific meshes. run face to the rocks.. like a pathfinding problem. No problem with Terminal map.

    I have a question for everyone, I have decided to buy a gaming laptop for around $1000. Does anyone have any advice? With that being said , I wanna congratulate Macporter for all the improvements to the mod....Too bad I won't be able to try it cause my macbook pro is being feixed and I rather wait to have a proper gaming laptop anyway, before I get back to gaming. Well , as I said , I really appreciate any advice from you guy and wish you all the best!

    2. Hey Skidrow, I am planning to play mostly FPS like all the COD titles ( of course I wanna be able to play the latest AW and BO3 ... ) and possibly BF4 and I am not into really demanding games like GTA or Any open world type games ...well... maybe Farcry ? ;) . Thanks again for the reply !

    4. Yeah, "Black Ops III" is far more demanding than its predecessor. Activision says you can run it on a GTX 470, but realistically you need a GTX 780 Ti to even attempt 1080p60, according to Guru3D. The laptop equivalent would be a GTX 880M -- it pales in comparison to a GTX 780 Ti, but even then you're unlikely to find a 1,000 USD laptop with that card. (The cheapest laptop with a GTX 880M on Newegg is 2,000 USD.) So you may need to lower your ambitions to a GTX 870M or 860M to stay in your budget. Search both cards on Newegg, and see which laptops are most palatable to your wallet!

  13. Is there anyway that the BO Combat Training mod can work on the Steam version of BO? It's a hassle downloading the Skidrow version when I own the Steam version. Another thing, do you have any plans on taking the Pezbot mod for COD4 and WaW and making those bots a bit more intelligent? And lastly, do you know of any client that's been made for BO3 that allows for offline ranking up with bots like redacted did for BO2?

    1. For the CT Patch to work on steam BO1, you need to use a BO1 client like bgT5. You then can install the CT Patch v1. From my experience only v1 works with steam bo1.

    Whenever i put thermal scope on my weapon or while i'm controlling AC130 killstreak or Chopper Gunner killstreak,it's very hard to find where they are,especially when they're running or walking.Even if i try to disable cold-blooded perk in "customize.gsc",this thing still happens.
    Hope you will fix it soon

  17. Hey, can someone answer me if there is still a way to change the bot's hitboxes ? Because when they're running the hitboxes are pretty weird, and sniping can be very difficult.

    1. true. Acti was just on time to block the only guy who could reverse engineer it fully and add mod support hence RSE mw3 bots could have been done already. The only bots you'll get for mw3 are those so called testclients hacks which are basically just the retarded bots as you can see on this vid...
